I found this little beauty in the kitchen, so I transfered it to the rose bushes near some aphids and it immediately set to work devouring most of them!

Bird table in use.
My home made bird table and bath combination in use by a hard-to-see blue tit. They don’t just eat the seed, I’ve seen them hop around the surrounding roses picking off aphids. Very helpful.
I made a bird table.
I made this very simple combination bird table and bath from some plastic saucers meant to go under plant pots, some chain and some S hooks.
Cigarette Advertising Ban
To go with the smoking ban theme. Here’s a picture I took in early 2003 shortly before the cigarette advertising ban.
1st July
Today smoking has finally been banned in enclosed public places in England. This will make quite a big difference to me as a non-(and never)-smoker and former bartender as it means unless I get stuck downwind of someone or visit my grandparents I can pretty much totally avoid cigarette smoke altogether.
One day I hope we will be able to look back and wonder why we let this self-inflicted affliction carry on for so long.
