Queen Square, Leafy
Could easily be the thirties, with visiting super-high-tech cars. I work just behind the right-most tree.

Gap, To Christmas Steps

Gap, To Christmas Steps
I’m about to run the gauntlet of that road, then down the steps beyond the arch. The office is near the spire of St Mary Redcliffe in the distance. Need to fix the light leak in the OM-2.

St Michael's Hill, 1911 or 2011
It probably looked much the same. I see this most mornings on the way to work.

The Duke Of Yorks

The Duke Of Yorks
Britain’s oldest continuously running purpose built cinema, this picture was taken around the time of its 101st birthday. We went to see Melancholia as our final Dukes outing as Brighton residents. I can’t remember my first visit, but it must have been when it was only about 88 years old.

Taylor St Baristas

Taylor St Baristas
Next on my list of places I visited regularly on my work days in Brighton is Taylor St Baristas. This is a very nice proper coffee shop run by Australian people who are deeply into coffee. They frequently made me feel ashamed of my inadequately trained palate by offering me tastes of the fancy guest coffees and all I’d be able to say is "yep, that’s nice". I have had some very nice coffee there, I just wish I could say why. I found it when my former work moved into the office above the branch of Travelbag that Taylor St was co-habiting with. They then moved a couple of minutes walk up the road which was very inconvenient of them. It sort of breaks the rules of this project in that I’m trying to stick to places unique to Brighton and Taylor St has several shops in London, but it’s so good and I visited two or three times a week so I had to include it. www.taylor-st.com

Grubbs

Grubbs
Grubbs is the place in Brighton to get a tasty burger of an evening. They do a decent vegeburger and a wide range of toppings. I visited it on many Thursday nights when Build Brighton was round the corner at The Skiff. Luckily, at around the same time Build Brighton moved to the Lewes Road area a new Grubbs opened at Vogue Gyratory round the corner.

Pizza Fresha 1

Pizza Fresha
Pizza Fresha, more frequently know as "the pizza van on Churchill Square", is where I’d go if I was feeling really lazy at lunch time. I’d get a slice of their doughy veggie pizza. I wouldn’t need to ask for it, they’d get it ready as soon as they saw me. That’s how frequently I was lazy. Could do with a bit less salt in the topping.

Iydea
Iydea serves up gorgeous vegetarian food. It was also the first place I had a photograph on show in public, for which I thank Jason and Mike of the Brighton Flickr group.
